Arangetram

Arangetram - "Ascend the Stage"

"Arangetram" is an important moment in the life of a Bharatanatyam dancer, a charming milestone in the world of classical dance. Bharatanatyam Arangetram is the result of many years of hard work, practice, and artistic excellence. Arangetram, a word derived from Tamil, means "ascending the stage." After years of intense training, it signifies a dancer's first performance, signifying their willingness to share their artistic expressions with the public. Arangetram performance is an important cultural and social event that is honored by the dancer's family, friends, and the entire dance community in addition to being a personal accomplishment.

Over the years, classical dancers learn precise footwork, attitudes, mudras (hand gestures), and complex choreography through intensive training from seasoned gurus. On a huge platform, during the arangetram performance, the dancer displays their skill, grace, and command of the classical dance style. From Arangetram costumes to the choreography, every aspect of the show seeks to enthrall the audience and arouse a variety of emotions. Hindu mythology, epics, and classical literature are told through the Arangetram dancer's expressions, footwork, and body movements, which transcend linguistic barriers and send the audience to tears.

Students of Atharva School of Fine Arts have gone through intense training under the guidance of Guru Smt. Shamal Pawar and achieved the milestone of performing at their respective Bharatanatyam Arangetram's.
